KTA 6: Legal and ethical considerations

 PRS license - making sure is in place so that musicians/record labels get paid royalties for song that are broadcast.(similar to copyright)

they work by ensuring that the legal owners to any music or artists get a certain amount or percentage to the total profits, they work closely with the MCPS , the royalties are paid at 4 main points per year: April, July, October and December      

any songs shown on the music tv show will need to make sure                                                                                                    

Copyright and ownership - if content is presented as original (this could be use of imagery and graphics in the background during presented exposition)

you cant take credit for content that isn't original, if you do then any profits collected from the use of the content

Health and safety - when filming for camera crew, presenters. There is legislation (by law) in place to protect those in the media(why we do recess, risk assessments)

Contracts of work - model release, location release forms

Media regulation - music videos are regulated by the BBFC - problems with language used, visuals such as nudity

ethical issues in entertainment media:

the depiction of violence and sex, and the presence of strong language.

fluff or celebrity news which is fake or overexaggerated

stereotypes and media representation 

- exploiting media

product placement - careful inclusion of a product in entertainment media

taste and taboos - to do with morality
